Los Angeles Philharmonic - Dudamel Leads Mozart and Strauss

Los Angeles Philharmonic - Dudamel Leads Mozart and Strauss at Walt Disney Concert Hall

Why see Los Angeles Philharmonic - Dudamel Leads Mozart and Strauss?

Magnificent Masters

Los Angeles Philharmonic's maestro Gustavo Dudamel leads the orchestra through the timeless works of two of the greatest, with magnificent renditions of Richard Strauss' Don Quixote and Mozart's Piano Symphony No. 9! With the talents of soloists Teng LiRobert DeMaine and Maria Joao Pires on show, allow the Phil to enrapture you during this impressive display of artistry.

Strauss' Don Quixote is a tone poem based on the 17th century novel of the same name, which was excitingly avant-garde for its time. Rich in story-telling, even the instruments take on whole characters with the virtuosic cello highlights the titular anti-hero. Mozart's 9th piano concerto meanwhile is also known as the Jeunnehomme concerto, completed in 1777 and possibly debuted by Mozart himself at a private performance that same year.
