New West Symphony: Fantastique at Fred Kavli Theatre

Why see New West Symphony: Fantastique?

Featuting soprano So Young Park!

Now starting their 2017 season, the Thousand Oaks Plaza's very own symphony orchestra presents a double program featuring works by Poulenc and Berlioz, conducted by Kynan Johns in his debut for the New West Symphony, joined also by So Young Park singing soprano with California Lutheran University Choir and Arete Vocal Ensemble. Poulenc's Gloria will mark the first time this work is performed by the Symphony; this is followed by Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique.

A relatively new arrival on the classical music scene, New West Symphony was founded in 1995 drawing its professional artists from the rich talent pool of Los Angeles -based musicians. The Symphony is based over three venues as the resident company of the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, and Barnum Hall in Santa Monica, led by music director Marcelo Lehninger.
