Alan Parsons Project at Fred Kavli Theatre

Why see Alan Parsons Project?

The Prog-rock wizardry of The Alan Parsons Project returns

Comprised of engineer and producer Alan Parsons and singer-songwriter/composer Eric Woolfson, The Alan Parsons Project was formed in 1975 as part of the British progressive and soft rock movement. Parsons, a well-established producer by that point, was inspired by the auterism of the film industry, giving his individual creative stamp on the duo's ensuing releases.

Accompanied by a revolving line-up of regular features and budding new talent, the pair pushed the boundaries of rock and pop, often conjuring chart success with jazz harmony-tinged dreamy soundscapes, laid back grooves and a cinematic feel. Their conceptual albums blossom into kaleidoscopic live performances, where the virtuosity of prog meets singable lyrics and hook-laden pop. There's no pomp and circumstance when it comes to The Alan Parsons Project, just a high level of musicality that speaks for itself.

ALAN PARSONS . Calgary Concert . IT WAS MAGIC

April.16th, 2019 Went to go see Alan Parsons Project concert in Calgary last night. We drove from Edmonton to see him at the new casino and music venue in Calgary at Grey Eagle Resort. The venue is perfect size and very well designed. I have been listening to Alan Parsons since I discovered him in grade 8 late seventies. Pyramid has always been my go to album and hearing many of the songs from this record LIVE and watching AP was so incredible. There are not words to convey how surreal it was to see and hear him. I am so thankful that I finally got to see him and I really hope he comes back to Canada soon. Every single person who attended the concert I think was in shock that we were all actually in the presence of a LIVE Alan Parsons concert here in Canada. I remember a house party w/ over 100 people back in the 80's when I played both sides of I Robot and Pyramid at well over 100 decibels on 4 JBLS back in the day. We all loved it! This was a great concert and only wish there was some merchandise for sale. See you next year hopefully! Alan Parsons at State Theater Minneapolis MN, Nov. 9 2018

Splendid Show.... Heard about the show on the radio 3 weeks prior to the show and took a chance and looked for tickets. Found floor tickets not over priced. Plus #1. Pulled the trigger and glade I did. It had been 30 years since my last concert. Life and children came first and I don't like large noisy venues so State Theater seamed perfect. And I was correct. Sound was just right for my ears. (old ones) They played many hits, however being a huge fan they couldn't play all that my heart desired. I looked around the crowd of fellow project lovers a few times to see slight head bobbing. But mine was non-stop, totally into it. I could' stop. The one song i wasn't familiar with was a song he dedicated to his long lost friend Goeff Emerick and the point we were asked to pull out are flashlights on our phones, Very cool moment. I thank Alan Parsons and the entire project, the State Theater and all who attended for a beautiful evening I shall remember this night forever PEACE & LOVE TO ALL ... Read more
