Glen Hansard at The Wiltern

Why see Glen Hansard?

A rich repertoire from the Irish troubadour

There's a chance that even if you haven't heard of this gravelly voiced Irish singer-songwriter, you have heard his music before. After a career that started by busking on the rainy streets of Dublin, he formed The Frames in 1990 and then went on to star in the critically acclaimed film The Commitments, before finding international success in the indie mega hit Once. For the latter, his song 'Falling Slowly' won an Academy Award in 2007 and the film subsequently went on to spawn a wonderfully intimate and unique Tony winning stage musical.

Raised on what he describes as 'the holy trinity' of Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan, Hansard has made an indelible mark with his indie-blues infused sound that fits his confessional, growly vocal perfectly. Don't miss what is sure to be an engaging and emotional evening in the company of the man himself.

Flew in From Seattle

I’ve seen Glen in Seattle 5x, Dublin once. First time with Swell Season. They obviously hadn’t had time to rehearse but it didn’t matter. I great show all around. Was a bit surprised all the jostling in the seats to go get drinks in the middle of concert. His interaction with audience was great as well. ... Read more

Ok...concert's tonight so...

... I haven't yet seen the show, but this will be my fifth time seeing Glen live. I feel the need to come to his defense, as if he is going to travel around the world to perform his music for people, they should give him the respect that he deserves while he's performing. It cannot be easy being on the road all the time, and he can be forgiven for getting frustrated when somebody treats the experience like they're riding public transportation and not watching a musical performance. If the concert-goer was loud enough to be disruptive, they had to be quite loud, as Glen's sets are not known for being quiet. Hopefully, the lesson learned is that it's only common courtesy not to speak during a show. Not to mention that Glen is the best performer you will ever have the privilege to see. Personally, I wouldn't want to miss a minute of his ingenius performance. ... Read more

Glen rocked the state theater

4th time attending Glen’s show and never disappointed! Loved the new songs along with the old. Loved him at the State. Very intimate! Loved everything about this concert in particular for some reason. Only complaint is I’m too short! Always tend to get behind the woman with a big hat...this time it was a large blonde bun!! Think they should have booster seat options ;). Come back again soon, Glen. I’ll never not go! ... Read more
