Why see God Looked Away?
A Pre-Broadway Try-out
Legend of screen and stage Al Pacino (Scent of a Woman, Scarface) leads this pre-Broadway try-out at the Pasadena Playhouse. Written by Dotson Rader Williams, God Look Away centers on Tennessee Williams (played by Pacino), undoubtedly one of America's greatest ever playwrights, but a man dogged all his life with addiction and depression. Given that Williams' debuted a handful of works at the Playhouse, there's no better venue for this Broadway-bound production.
Joining Pacino on the Pasadena stage is fellow Tony winner and star of Amazon's Transparent Judith Light (Other Desert Cities, Other Assembled Parties), and the cast also includes Takuma Anzai, Kevin Bailey and Garrett Clayton.
Pacino
While Oscar winner Pacino has been a regular fixture on the New York stage throughout his career, God Look Away marks his first appearance on a Los Angeles stage since 2006's Salome at the Wandsworth Theatre. A performer of unrivalled intensity and charisma, he's a frequent collaborator with the David Mamet, and starred in the playwright's latest work, China Doll, on Broadway in 2015. This is a rare chance for West Coast audiences to see the iconic actor treading the boards!
