On the road again

Popular live variety radio show A Prairie Home Companion enters a new era. Running from 1974, the show reaches a staggering 3.5 million listeners each week on 700 different public radio stations, making listeners laugh and satisfying their musical sweet teeth with myriad musical guests.

It may seem an eclectic choice, but having been guest of the show himself, multiple Grammy Award winner Thile is just the man for the new hosting gig. Known for musical outfits Nickel Creek and The Punch Brothers, the muso won't be getting rid of the show's humorous wordcraft, music or fake commercials, but instead will give its music more of an edge. Confirmed guests Jack White, Dawes and Esperanza Spalding are a testament to that.
