One of the country's greatest living composers, Stephen Sondheim has been working in musical theatre for over 50 years. From being mentored by Oscar Hammerstein to working on West Side Story with Jerome Robbins, he soon shone on his own. His signature style of halting lyrics, haunting accompaniment and incredible emotion has gone on to win him an eyewatering eight Grammys, eight Tonys, an Oscar and even a Pultizer Prize.
