Los Angeles Philharmonic - All-Vivaldi at Hollywood Bowl

Why see Los Angeles Philharmonic - All-Vivaldi?

a joyous celebration

Two of Vivaldi's most beautiful and cherished works lead this evening celebrating the genius of the baroque composer. Conducted by Nicolas McGregan, the show will include appearances from Countertenor Tim Mead, Violinist Simone Porter and the Pacific Chorale who will bring the full excellence and talent required for these exquisitely touching works.

The finale will be Gloria, taken from the 4th century hymn and likely created in 1715. Sunny and distinctive, it bubbles over with universal appeal, bathing audiences in joy. Lost from Vivaldi's death until the 1920s, it received its US premiere in 1957. Similarly rediscovered amongst his manuscripts in the 20th century is the first half's Sabat Mater, an excemplarly piece of sacred compostiton.
