amazing is all I can say, never saw Avatar so had no preconception of what I would see but just love any performance put on by Cirque and this one meets all my expectations Totally different in the arena setting than the tents which I have always attended when the show is in town. Shouldn't miss if you haven't seen it.

In teaming up with James Cameron, Cirque du Soleil has won a massive marketing machine and some reasonably nice production effects. Unfortunately, it has also lost its soul. The first clue is the narrator - often a sign that a story can't stand on its own. Toruk is a dumbed-down Cirque. In any of their other shows I have sat awestruck for two hours, transported by the magic of human movement intertwined with music and imagery, unencumbered by someone else's linear narrative. It has been completely enchanting. Here we have also lost the extraordinary skill of a legion of artists and gymnasts strutting their stuff. It has all been replaced by projections and puppets. Nice enough in themselves but never approaching divine. The draw was surely assumed to be to the digital world. Taruk does one thing well: it proves there is nothing more magically moving than truly extraordinary human artistry ... Gone from this production but not forgotten. Come back Cirque. We need you.
