Since then, he has enlisted the help of his band titled 'The Lovemakers' and released five studio albums, with the fifth 'Hobo Johnson Alienates His Fanbase' being released in 2021. Johnson has received four Sacramento Area Music Awards including Artist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop/Rap, Best Emcee and Best New Artist.

His signature style, cemented with his brand new album Two Star & the Dream Police', combines plucked electric guitar with echoey raw lo-fi production. His track Are You Looking Up' garnered mass acclaim, making him one to watch on the indie/alternative scene. Besides his solo material, Mk.Gee has worked as a songwriter with Dijon, Omar Apollo, and Kacy Hill.
