LA Opera - Carmen at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion

Why see LA Opera - Carmen?

look who's back

She might not have been the original femme fatale, but Carmen has sure carved a niche in our consciousness as one of opera's most dangerous women. Stunningly beautiful and wholly aware, her habit of taking and breaking hearts can only lead to trouble for her and her bedazzled targets. One of the most explosively entertaining works in the repertoire, Georges Bizet's Carmen couples an enticing storyline with a heart-stopping score that'll have you on the very edge of your seat.

Ana Marina Martinez returns to the LA Opera to play the titular anti heroine in this classic of the genre. Officially the most performed opera world wide, those less versed in the artform will recognise the famous arias 'Habanero' and Torador Song'.

BEWARE THE ATTENTIONS OF CARMEN

Carmen is a provocative Gyspy woman, whose short temper brings her to the attention of the kind and charismatic Don Jose, who falls head over heels in love with her. An intense tale of love found and ruthlessly taken, Carmen is an intense and passionate piece, as lust and revenge go hand in hand making for a fiery finale.
