A Lecture with an Artistic Difference

As an artist lecture created by Suzanna Bocanegra, Farmhouse Whorehouse is a unique show, telling the story of her grandparents when they lived in a blissful rural setting. The show is the third in a series of performances by Bocanegra and presents an alternative way to enjoy live storytelling.

Inspired by growing up on her grandparents' farm, Bocanegra uses film, video, text and song to provide audiences with a varied and exciting showcase. The show recounts a tale set in La Grange, Texas, situated opposite the Chicken Ranch that was labelled 'The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas'.

Bocanegra is a New York based artist whose work partly comprises of installations and performances that involve imagery, movement, dance and music. Starring acclaimed television and indie film actress Lili Taylor, the lecture sees both women exhibit stories of the homesteading movement of the 1960s and the role of the prostitute in art in one stunning performance.
